Subprocessors
DRAFT — pending attorney review. This page lists the outside services that may process information held in ProbatEdge on behalf of Williams | Starbuck, what each one does, and when it applies. The firm keeps it current. It claims no certification for any provider.
Always in use
- Render (United States) — application hosting, the encrypted application database, and the server logs. Everything stored in ProbatEdge lives here.
In use when the firm turns the feature on
- Dropbox (United States) — matter-file sync for the folders the firm has connected. ProbatEdge reads the documents in those folders and does not change the files in Dropbox. If the firm separately turns on saving back, a staff member can add a copy of one document to the matter's folder; it never overwrites, renames or deletes an existing file.
- The firm's email provider (Google Workspace, United States, reached over SMTP) — outgoing messages only: staff invitations, password resets, the daily digest, and client questionnaire links and reminders once the firm has set up email. The provider receives the recipient address and the message, never a matter file.
- Anthropic (United States) — the AI provider behind legal research assistance when that feature is on. Research requests are made with the provider's US-only processing option, and the reply's processing location is checked before the content is used. Client information and matter documents are not model input: the research seam takes public legal questions only.
- Clio — practice-management data the firm chooses to read into a matter, only after an administrator connects the firm's Clio account and only for the scope the firm approves. If the firm turns on saving documents to Clio, a staff member can add a copy of one document to a Clio matter's documents.
- Microsoft (OneDrive and SharePoint) and Google (Google Drive) — only when the firm registers its own app with each and a staff member connects their own account. ProbatEdge copies in the one file the staff member chooses, and adds a copy of a document there only when saving back is turned on and the staff member asks.
- DecisionVault — client intake data the firm chooses to read into a matter, only after an administrator connects it and only for the matters the firm selects.
Not in use
- No text-message (SMS) provider: a text prepared in ProbatEdge is copied to the firm's own phone by staff.
- No electronic-signature provider.
- No analytics, advertising, or session-recording service runs on any ProbatEdge page, including the client questionnaire.
