DRAFT — pending attorney review

Terms of Use

DRAFT — pending attorney review. This page is a working draft for Williams | Starbuck staff. It is not a client engagement letter and it does not change the firm's duties to a client.

Who may use ProbatEdge

ProbatEdge is an internal workspace for probate and trust administration at Williams | Starbuck. Use is limited to people the firm has authorized — attorneys, paralegals, and administrators with a staff account. Do not share your password, leave a signed-in session open on an unattended computer, or let anyone else use your account.

You may use the workspace only for the firm's matters and for the firm's own training on those matters. Personal use, use for another employer, and use on behalf of someone who is not a client of the firm are outside these terms.

What the software does

The workspace helps staff classify a matter, track deadlines, keep intake, and prepare draft documents from firm templates. It prepares drafts. It does not file anything with a court, and it does not give legal advice to a client or to the public.

Deadlines and track selection that the software calculates come from the firm's programmed rules and the sources loaded into it. Those results are a starting point for a person. They are not a determination that a filing is timely, complete, or the right proceeding.

Attorney review

Anything the software drafts — a pleading, a letter, a checklist, a summary, or an answer from the research assistant — is unfiled work product until an attorney of the firm reviews it. Model output is not legal advice. An attorney must review it against the file, the current statute, and the court's rules before anyone relies on it or sends it out.

Do not paste a model's answer into a filing, an email to a client, or a court submission without that review. Do not tell a client that the software has approved, certified, or filed a document.

Confidentiality

Matter information in the workspace is confidential firm information. Treat it as you would a paper file: open it only when you need it for the matter, and do not copy it into a personal account, a personal device that the firm does not manage, or a public tool.

Activity on a staff account may be logged, including sign-in, document export, and password changes. Logs are for the firm's administration and security. They are not a client file.

Accounts and access

The firm issues staff accounts and can disable them. You must keep your contact email current so the firm can reach you about the account. If you believe someone else has used your password, reset it and tell an administrator.

Self-service password reset is for staff accounts only. It is not offered to clients.

Availability

The workspace may be unavailable during maintenance, a hosting outage, or a failed update. A missing screen or a failed download does not change a court deadline. Keep the firm's own calendar for anything that has to be filed or served on a date.

Changes

Williams | Starbuck may update these terms. The copy on this page is the current draft. A later version replaces it when an attorney approves the text and the firm posts it. Continued use after that posting is acceptance of the updated terms.
